Built in 1847 on the banks of the Ohio River, the Bellaire House is reputed to be one of the most haunted houses in America. Since the early twentieth century it has earned a reputation as a hotbed of paranormal activity, with reports of apparitions, curses, psychic assaults, and violence.
One paranormal activity after another, the Bellaire House has earned itself a reputation for being just that over the years. With its violent apparitions, curses, and portals. Stories include accounts of a ghostly sexual assault, communications from spirits of slaves (the house was part of the Underground Railroad) and tales of madness.
The paranormal hype of the Bellaire House is not new. It stretches back to the early 20th century. There were certain events, or incidents, that led to the haunting of the Bellaire House. This 2500 square foot house sits on just under an acre of land and what’s strange is when you look at Bellaire House, the first impression you get is this innocent-looking house that sits atop a so-called cursed coal mine which is also thought to be a portal of sorts.

The house gained a mysterious reputation even during the years when it was sitting abandoned. The neighbors in the area claimed to see people roaming around in the house or peeking out of the windows. This was during a time when the house was locked and no one was living there.
